I bought one of the 71 GSX grilles from the club. Paint will not stick to it. I'm thinking there must be some press releasing agent on them. Can tell me how to clean them for painting?

Silicone in mold release | #1 | ||

Some injection molding plants use "mold release" spray in the moldiong press to assist in demolding the hot part. If this aerosol release spray has
any silicone in it, it will seriously affect the paintability of the part. Any manufacturing plant should be well aware of this. Silicone is absolutely
prohibited from even being in most automotive supplier plants that mold parts to be painted because it is so toxic in that respect. Cautiously try various
solvents to remove any residual silicone while remaining mindful that petroleum distillates and VOCs can have an effect on plastic surfaces.
