Hi Everyone,
Does anyone know if the clearance between the front of a 1970 455 oil pan and the crank counterweights for the #1 or #2 pistons is a little tight? I have a tiny dent in the pan, hardly noticeable, but I can hear and feel the crank hitting it when it goes by. It's audible from both above and below the car, and I can feel it when I put my hand on the pan. As I said, the dent is hardly noticeable, so there must be very little room between the crank and pan at the front (shallower) of the pan. I'm looking to put a thicker oil pan gasket on the car (not in the mood to pull the motor to get a new pan) to give me a little more clearance. I guess I'm also wondering if this is a good solution (or band-aid) until I get a new pan. Thanks in advance.
