So far the weather has held out in our favor.
Tuesday: With perfect weather, the T&T with the locals was
dominated by the Buick car count & performance numbers.
Wednesday: Started at the scheduled time. Sky didn't look
so good but not a drop of rain. The let us race later cause
the forcast for today looked like a washout. NOT !!
Rained heavy all night with thunderstorms till about 8am.
Rain stopped, remained cloudy all day, track dried very quick,
& racing started about 11am. Because of the morning delay
we raced later than scheduled to make up lost time.
Cloudy all day but not a drop of rain.
Some of the highlights:
Thinking attandance would be down because of the
economy & etc. NOT !! In my opinion, as with many others,
there were many more racers & spectators than in any of the
last several years. Pits were packed along with a good number of vendors
including RJC Racing (Jason Cramer & family), H&R Parts (Paul Ferry & family),
Caspers (John Spina & Cobra kit car) Dennis Kirban, Richard Clark (ZDDP+)
Metco, & many others totaling about two dozen including swap meet
vendors & etc. More expected tomorrow including Champion & etc.
Another highlight was the ZR1 Corvette club (about 20) on hand for some
grudge & match racing. Great guys & all they all had a great time
mixing it up with the Buicks. The Club's president Ron Kreig owns
a T/R also.
The first Lingenfelter done up ZR1 made
it's first pass ever running 11.30's at over 130mph.
The whole crew for the Gallina car were in atttendance including
Marge & Ken Duttweiler, Marka & John Gallina, Len Freeman (driver)
techs Jan Moeller & James. (forget his last name)
Al the plumber from NY was there as was Jim Rock,
& Julie & Dick Kereny. Jim Rodgers & Doug Hecker
also were also video taped & interviewed. As a note
we noticed a vast numbers increase this year for the
big block V8's.
Interviews & videos were made with all of the above &
many others by Andrew Fillipone & Creative Images.
Scott Parker, editor of GMHTP Magazine, came in a day
earlier to cover the event. We're hoping for a visit
by Hemmings Muscle Machines Magazine.
Not to be repetitive, for a Thursday, the pits were simply packed as
was the circle track area, something I don't remember ever seeing
in my 10 years with the exception of our 25th anniversary Nats.
This is our 29th straight yearly event & looking forward to
our 30th next year.

More updates to follow tomorrow.
