1. You could get this if you were persistent and knew someone at the zone level. A few were built this way. You could not order one from the dealer (SCO) without that extra "juice" because Ralph Nader had the companies decree that you could not get a 455 conv. with bucket seats. I tried, but was turned down because I was young and did not know the "rules" for bypassing the rule/law.

2. You can buy bucket seats (repro) but they come in pieces and are expensive. Best thing to do is look out on the various boards and find a used pair for sale. You have to physically remove the bench seat tracks (grinder, hammer, chisel) and then either buy new/repro or get from the seller the bucket seat brackets You then have to have them welded in to the convertible. I just finished doing this last week (not a convertible) and it is quite a project. It took two people an entire 9-hr. day without stopping. You must remember to clean off the brackets (if used) and the floor of the convertible with a grinder to make sure the welder has clean surfaces to weld. This is a bit of a pain. If you buy repro or new original tracks, you don't have to do quite as much work.

3. If you buy/use a power seat, the track is different from the regular bucket seat, so you have to buy them or get them from the donor car. The power harness is important, also. I suggest you have the motor rebuilt before you install it so you are sure it will work properly. These are 40 years old, can be worn out, and seats and people are heavy.

4. Consoles are for sale on the boards all the time. You need the entire shifter, the cable, the tyranny bracket, and the two brackets that hold all this to the floor. Same process as the seat tracks--you have to get them out and then weld them in. And you have to drill a 1.5" hole in the floor. Include this in the full day for two people. Take very precise measurements on YOUR CAR for this work as once the welding begins there is no room to stop and change. We measured the donor car and the receiving car 5 times each and still had to be very careful. We ended up drilling holes and putting in tek screws for all six brackets and then having the welder fill the screw holes just to make sure everything fit properly. You will find little dents in the floor for all the locating welds, but don't believe them. Some are OK, some are not, and welding is not something you want to mess up.

Console prices depend upon condition. You can buy the wood grain paper and the door aftermarket. You can buy parts of the shifter handle aftermarket. The rest has to come from the seller.

1 bracket that bolts onto the tranny pan
1 cable for the shifter rod

There are a number of screws, springs, etc. you also need with this. Be sure the seller sells you EVERYTHING. Like I said, we had the complete car and it was still a big job.

Now, we also changed over the steering column as they are obviously different for floor shift cars. This is another 1/2 day job and is another "fun" thing to do. It is not hard, but you have to make a lot of adjustments to the shifter cable and column pieces to make sure the indicator on the dash works properly. Just that took an hour with one under the car and one making the adjustments in the car.

We did all the work ourselves except the welding, which took 1.5 hours because my buddy had done it before. The first time he did it took 2.5 hours because the welding surfaces were not clean. Cost of welding was $100 including a tip to the welder for helping us on a Saturday. All parts came from a donor car. If you buy this on a board it could run from $100 to ??? depending upon the condition of the parts. One of my seats needs recovering, but it is OK for now. Add about $350 for the covers (incl. headrest) if you want a Legendary interior setup for the seats. My springs and foam were excellent, so all I will need is a pair of covers eventually--you can't just buy one--and paying the labor to cover them. Depends upon where you live as to how much they charge. Or, Legendary will do this for you for $250.00 labor. Seat backs, springs, foam, misc. parts will run a bunch more. You can buy frames for these seats, too. They run $370 each plus shipping.

If you can't find donor seats, plan on spending about $1000 for the parts and then you have to get them put together and upholstered. Shipping will be a lot, too.

Good luck--mine worked out perfectly, but then again I had a GREAT donor car, LOTS of help and spent a long time doing it properly.
